PUD Water and Sewer Systems

Roosevelt
System Improvements
The PUD operates a water system in Roosevelt to serve 20 customers. A new 100,000-gallon concrete reservoir recently replaced a 1,000-gallon pressure tank. A new treatment facility removes iron and manganese from the water to make it softer and give it better flavor.

The Roosevelt sewer system serves 18 customers. Plans are underway to reline the current collection lagoons and build new disposal or evaporative ponds.

Rimrock
The Rimrock water system serves about 20 customers northeast of Goldendale. Two deep wells supply a 35,000-galloon redwood stave reservoir. Because the water supply is inadequate, the PUD has initiated a study to look for additional water sources.

Ponderosa Park
The Ponderosa Park water system serves about 80 customers six miles north of Goldendale. Two wells feed a 75,000-galloon steel reservoir.

Wishram
At Wishram the PUD operates a water system with 3 wells, standby springs and two 100,000-gallon concrete reservoirs. It serves 198 customers.

The Wishram sewer system serves about 155 customers. Two aerated lagoons treat the sewage and treated effluent is discharged into the Columbia River. There are plans to upgrade the treatment process within the next couple years.

Lyle
In Lyle 262 customers are served by two full-time wells, one standby well and two 100,000-gallon concrete reservoirs. Plans are to install additional fire hydrants in the community and replace about 2,000 feet of water line over the next several years.

The community's sewer system serves about 215 customers. An extended aeration activated sludge plant discharges treated effluent to the Columbia River. Plans are underway to study upgrades to the plant.

Klickitat
Water in the community of Klickitat comes from two deep wells, treated at a salt ion exchange softening plant. A replacement well has been drilled and the PUD hopes to get it on-line in the near future to improve water quality.

The Klickitat sewer system includes an extended aeration activated sludge plant that serves 162 customers. Treated effluent is discharged into the Klickitat River. In 2000 the PUD plans a needs assessment for the system.

Glenwood
The Glenwood water system was built by the PUD in the mid-1970s. McCumber Springs, located several miles north of Glenwood, serves about 200 customers. The system also includes a 100,000-gallon concrete reservoir at Bluejay Camp.

The Glenwood sewer system serves about 125 customers. Treated discharge is chlorinated and pumped via a big sprinkler system over a 20-acre parcel. In 2001 the PUD plans a needs assessment for the system.
