Water and Sewer System Report - December 1998
By Mike Wellman, Water/Waste Water Manager

DOH MOU Seminars
The Water/Waste Water Dept. held two seminars in the month of December for public water systems in Klickitat County. The first seminar was an open house to the community and several short training sessions on cross connections and various other topics. Several smaller community water systems attended and stated that it was helpful to them. The second seminar was on emergency preparedness for water systems presented by Evergreen Rural Water Association. Bingen water department and Goldendale water department personnel attended as well as the PUD personnel.

Roosevelt Water and Sewer Systems
The temporary water and sewer hookups for the office to be located in Roosevelt have been completed by PUD personnel. It is anticipated that the office will be leased and delivered before spring of 1999. There has been some delay in the progression of this project due to a lack commitment to the work to be performed by the new owners of Rabanco.

Ponderosa Park Water System
PUD personnel repaired a broken pipe in the distribution system that was determined to be related to the recent cold weather.

Glenwood Water and Sewer Systems
Water System Doug Miller is working on obtaining a solar operated chlorination unit for the reservoir and plans to have it in place within the next month.
Sewer System The new pumps for the lift station have been received. Installation will be done by PUD employees; that will result in a considerable savings to the system.

Klickitat Water and Sewer Systems
Water System The Klickitat County Community Development Fund has made $15,000 available to the town of Klickitat for hiring a consultant to review the progress of the PUD thus far. I have been speaking with potential engineers who are interested in responding to the County's RFP and have provided information for their review. This is progressing at a much slower rate than expected.
Sewer System We will be ready to submit the purchase order for the backup generator and pump for the FEMA project this week.

Wishram Water System
I have completed the PUD portion of the response to the State Department of Health that was drafted by Grey & Osborne. This response is due by mid-December and will be submitted next week. Wishram Water System
