Employees contribute to success of Fair
Ruralite - October 2003
Each year, KPUD has a booth at the Klickitat County Fair. Volunteers hand out cold water, key chains, stickers, activity books, balloons, pens, pencils, litter bags, electrical safety tips, and rebate and loan program information. Staff is on hand to answer any questions customers may have. Lori Fakesch, Bill Rogers, Sharon Ohnstad, Lorraine Reynolds, Wendy Manka, Ron Schultz, Luann Mata, Miquette Ihrig, Michael Macy, Betty Zesiger, Tim McMurrin, Ron Ihrig, Doug Miller, Annette Trenka, Kathy Loveland, Nadine Huxley, Julius Robison, and Commissioner Randy Knowles all spent time working in the KPUD booth this year. Glenn Fritts and Carli DePasquale helped Julius Robison set the booth up, and washing, polishing, and painting the three vehicles that were in the Klickitat County Fair Parade.
Employees and spouses also volunteered their time for activities outside of the KPUD booths. Ron Ihrig, operations manager, is the President of the Fair Board. Jim Smith, engineering manager, is in charge of the admission gates, along with Dave Enwards, engineering assistant.
Nadine Huxley and Kathy Loveland helped time and announce the western games on Thursday night of the Fair. Jeff Thayer worked gates for the rodeo. Rob Rising and John Bellamy put on a pole top rescue demonstration. Spouse Art Mains serves on the Fair board and is the swine superintendent, and spouses Jennifer Smith and Liz Ihrig assisted with the Kickoff barbeque, as well as organizing the 90+ volunteers who worked the gates.
